Traveling Exhibition: ‘…and occasionally send my regards…’ – Caspar David Friedrich’s Friends and Acquaintances

What people influenced Caspar David Friedrich on his path? The travelling exhibition is dedicated to the Pomeranian circle of friends and acquaintances of the significant Greifswald painter.
Through selected personalities such as Johann Gottfried Quistorp, Friedrich August von Klinkowström, and Ludwig Gotthard Kosegarten, the close connections between art, science, and society in early 19th-century Pomerania become visible.
At the same time, the exhibition builds a bridge between Caspar David Friedrich from Greifswald and Philipp Otto Runge from Wolgast. Both were connected not only by their origins but also by a shared intellectual environment from which Romanticism received crucial impulses.
The loan exhibition will be shown in the living room gallery of the Rungehaus as part of Rungesommer 2027. In Wolgast, the focus will be increasingly placed on Philipp Otto Runge and August von Klinkowström.
The exhibition can be seen until 31 October and can be visited Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
