What is it about?
Cut out your own world from paper.
Philipp Otto Runge (1777–1810), born in Wolgast, created silhouettes since his childhood. He cut flowers, people, animals, and entire cityscapes. For his 250th birthday, we are reviving this tradition.
A cut cannot be undone.
What the scissors separate remains separated — and that is exactly where the beauty lies. Every silhouette is created between your hands, and it exists only once.
What lies in your world? A tree that has never grown like that before. The street where you live — or one that only exists on paper.

How to participate
Everyone can participate.
Children, teenagers, adults, artists, and seniors from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern — every experience level is welcome. Participation is free of charge.
Cutting
A work made of paper in A4 format. One motif, no series.
Photographing or scanning
In daylight from above, without flash and without cropping, on a neutral, single-colored background.

Until 31 January 2027. There are two ways to do this — via the form on this page or by email.

Terms and Conditions of Participation

A4 Format
No larger, no smaller.
Pure Paper Work
Cut, not painted or glued.
One work per person
One motif, no series.
Participation free of charge
No fees will be charged.
Selected works will be exhibited at Rungehaus Wolgast and the Greifswald Youth Art School, and featured in reports about the competition. The originals will be returned after the exhibition concludes. Anyone under 18 requires consent from a legal guardian.

Exhibition & Award Ceremony
All selected participants will be notified after 18 February 2027, and asked for their original. The selected works will be exhibited at the Rungehaus Wolgast and the Jugendkunstschule Greifswald, opening with an award ceremony. The originals will be returned after the end of the exhibition.
